Data received from States on progress in kharif sowing as on 15 October reveal that:-
(a)The total of area under coarse cereals (Paddy, Jowar, Bajra and Maize) is 207.38 lakh hectare as against 206.68 lakh hectare in the same period in the previous year.
b) The total of area under pulses (Arhar, Urd, and Moong) is 101.28 lakh hectare as against 95.94 lakh hectare in the same period in the previous year.
c) The total of area under Oilseeds (Groundnut and Soybean ) is 174.90 lakh hectare as against 184.43 lakh hectare in the same period in the previous year.
