Reconstitution of the Archival Advisory Board (AAB)
The Archival Advisory Board (AAB) is the apex body to monitor the implementation and review the progress of the Act.
It is constituted on 01.11.1995 and till date ten meetings of AAB have been held.
The Public Records Act in 1993 and the Public Records Rules in 1997 were enacted to regulate the management, administration and preservation of public records of the Indian Government bodies.
The Board consisted of 13 members and is chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Culture with more officials as members than academicians.
AAB is hereby, expanded and reconstituted, to include the experts and academicians in equal proportion with equal status. The reconstituted Board has Prof. Partha Chatterjee, Prof. Nayanjot Lahiri and Dr. R.K.Perti as non-official members and Dr. Shubha Chaudhury, Prof. Majid H. Siddiqui, Prof. Biswanoy Pati, Prof. Lakshmi Subramaniam, Prof. Shahid Amin, Prof. A.R. Venkatachalapathy and Prof. Suranjan Das as special invitees.
