50 years of The Subroto Cup football Tournament

The Subroto Cup football Tournament is organised in India to promote sportsmanship among school and college students. In The tournament, boys interstate States and Union Territories football teams takes part. It is organised for the under-14 and under-17 age category.
The tournament is conducted by the Indian Air Force and it is dedicated to the memory of first Indian Air Chief, late A.M. Subroto Mukherjee.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports supports the Tournament with an annual grant of Rs. 5 lakh. This year the Subroto Cup football Tournament foundation has completed its 50 years. In view of the success, M.S. Gill, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, has sanctioned an additional amount of Rs. 20 lakh to the organizers of the Tournament.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports will attend the Subroto Cup final on the 26th October, 2009.
